Strawberries! The season was almost 2 months long this year. This picture was from a few weeks ago but I had forgotten about it. I put 6 gallons of strawberries in the freezer this year.
Mmmm..... chocolate. I added chopped bittersweet chocolate to my latest batch of peanut butter granola. It was a brilliant idea.
Not all my kitchen experiments are successes. These were supposed to be scones. Scones they are not. I called them cookie muffins and the kids ate them up.
I had a cold last week so Jon helped out by making dinner. Charlotte helped too.
My plate... crispy potatoes and scrambled eggs.
Jon's plate. The potatoes have cheese, ketchup, and tomatoes on top. It's like a party on a plate.
Evan went outside at 7am the other morning, even though it was raining, to check on the hole he had dug in the dirt pile. He was disappointed that it wasn't filled with water.
Blueberries, coconut milk, and honey. A match made in heaven!
Almost Famous Rosemary Bread (baked up like focaccia since I let it over-rise). Delicious!! I will be making this again soon!
Tea party
Everyone had a good time.
Ahhh.... summer.
Roasted Smashed Potatoes (use lard instead of olive oil.... trust me on this) I'd marry these potatoes if I could.
Charlotte assures me that I can not marry potatoes. Kill joy.
Ataulfo Mangos. They're my new favorite fruit. They taste similar to typical mangoes but their flesh is smooth and creamy with non of the fiberousness (is that a word?).
These little mangoes are perfect for one person. I peel it and slice off bite size pieces. I have been known to gnaw a bit on the pit afterward to get every bit of fruit off. You didn't hear that from me.
Road trip snack basket. I hate when road trip food get smashed in the car. There hasn't been this much prepackaged food in this house in a long time. The kids are so excited.
The kids now have their very own library cards. They were so excited to use them this weekend to check out their stack of books.

I'm hoping to get some Hood strawberries this weekend...finally!
I love scones but I bet yours are healthier than mine... :)
Be happy your kids still get up at a decent time. I experimented this morning to see how long my daughter could sleep in if I made no attempt to waker her. She woke up at 1:30 (!!!) after I couldn't stand it anymore!
