April 12th, Jon and I celebrated our 10th anniversary. We usually don't make much of a fuss over our anniversary but we thought we should do something special. I read about The Mast Farm Inn in an article featuring great farm to table food. Loving food like we do, I thought this might be a perfect getaway for us.
With the kids having fun at Nana and Grandpa's house, Jon and I drove the ~2 hours to the inn.
After a quick check-in, we walked to our cabin, The Woodwork Shop. You walk into the living room/kitchenette area. They had the fireplace on and soft music playing when we got there.
Through the curtain in the living room is the bedroom, bathroom, and steps to the sleeping loft.
Here's the dining area and the little kitchen area.
We were so glad the weather was chilly so we could use the fireplace while we were there.
The bedding on this bed nearly made me cry with joy. The feather duvet was so soft and the sheets were soft and cool. We slept with the window open a bit, even though it got down to the mid-30's at night, so we could sleep under the feather duvet.
The extra long claw foot tub was across from the bed. I spent a lot of time in that tub. I have to say though that an extra long tub isn't a plus if you're under 6 foot tall. I had to work to keep my head above water.
Here's the loft.
The view from the loft.
Two cupcakes, the recipe, and a personalized welcome note was waiting for us on the coffee table.
I can't sleep in so I'd sneak out into the living room with the duvet in the early mornings and read by the fire.

I took pictures of our meals at the inn. The first morning we had oatmeal with peaches topped with a sorghum syrup. It was so good. Jon even ate half of his and he hates oatmeal.
Jon had the regular breakfast since he can eat dairy.
The chef was nice enough to make me a separate breakfast that was dairy free. It was so nice to not have to worry about what I would be able to eat.
We splurged and made dinner reservations at the inn's restaurants.
Jon and I both had the steak with potatoes roasted in duck fat with green beans (the fancy French version).
Jon loves taking these kinds of pictures. I love that man.
Jon's dessert made me drool. The chocolate cake with caramel ice cream looked amazing and Jon enjoyed every bite.
The chef sent out berries in a raspberry sauce for me. I think it's the first time I've been able to eat dessert while eating out since nearly all restaurant desserts have dairy.
Breakfast on our last morning was pretty good but they'd set the bar so high the day before that it was hard to beat.
It was a fantastic weekend and a welcome break from the home buying stress. I am so lucky to be married to my best friend. The past 10 years have been so wonderful and we look forward to many, many more happy years.
